Dr. Michel Chrétien, Founder and Scientific Director of the Foundation on Antivirals, has been awarded the CSBMCB Arthur Wynne Gold Medal for his life-time contribution to biochemistry, molecular and cell biology in Canada.
Montreal, April 19, 2010 - The Foundation on Antivirals (FAV) is proud to announce that its founder and scientific director, Dr. Michel Chrétien, was presented with the Canadian Society of Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology’s prestigious Arthur Wynne Gold Medal on April 17th at an awards dinner during the Society’s 53rd Annual Meeting in Banff, Alberta.
The Arthur Wynne Gold Medal recognizes Dr. Chrétien’s life-time record of outstanding achievement in research and his major role in the development and promotion of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology in Canada, as well as his decades-long record of service to the academic community in Canada and abroad.
Recently, Dr. Chrétien was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of London. He is the first French Canadian physician to be so honoured.
FAV is an international foundation based in Montreal. Its mission is to raise funds to help in the development of antivirals against HIV-AIDS, influenza, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other devastating viral threats.
